To
my dear friends suffering from religious OCD: Welcome to Religious OCD: There Is a Way Out! How I understand. How
dear you are to my heart. This blog is devoted to you. Personally, I don’t
know of a worst tormentor or of a more awful form of torture than religious
OCD. I know what you are going through. You see, I once was there. I believe
one of the reasons why Jesus allowed me to experience the torment that comes
from religious OCD is because He had you in mind—yes you, dear to His heart. Through what I underwent, I learned that not
only is the Lord able to help us, He is willing
and ready to help us. The good
news is, you are not alone. Jesus loves you.
If
you’d like, it would be my pleasure to join you on your journey as you travel on
the path toward complete recovery from scrupulosity. In each upcoming blog, my
intent is to bare my soul and openly share with you what I went through: My
fears & anxieties, my failures, my sins and my victories through Christ. I consider
that there is great power in transparency and in the word of our testimony. But
also, I believe you are longing to relate and be understood. Most importantly, I
believe you are looking for hope. Perhaps you wish you could go back in time to
where you were before this whole ordeal began, but you can’t find your way back.
Maybe you are intensely seeking a way out through the maze of your troubled mind,
but have difficulty finding the permanent way of escape. I felt the same way. Yet,
I remember that one day when I cried out to God in desperation—when He heard
me. Now, I desire to share with you the revelation knowledge God gave me which
contributed to my freedom from religious OCD. I trust these truths will help
you too.
Finally,
I honestly believe that you can be freed at any given moment. Therefore, if you
experience freedom instantaneously or quickly throughout this process, please
go ahead and enjoy your freedom! Know that I count it a great joy that you
visited this site. On the other hand, if your journey toward freedom from
religious OCD is at all like mine was, it will not be easy, but you can rest
assured that it is only a matter of time until you can enjoy peace again. Moreover,
if your story ends up being similar to mine, you will need to fight, but never
in your own might. It may take many hours, a lot of hard work and a whole lot
of holy determination, but be comforted that none of it will be done apart from
His help. I believe it is safe for me to say that I was an extreme case, but by
the grace and the mercy of God, I was set free. Believe with me that one day
you too will be offering encouragement to someone else, showing them the way of
escape, to the glory of God. The manifestation of your freedom in Christ is
right before you. Put your trust in Him and lean on Him all the way, and you
will never be the same again. Only keep heart and never give up.
Now
come! Let us journey together. There is hope! There is a way out.
